  • Weight Distribution System for 3500 GVWR Pop-Up Camper Towed by Toyota Tundra
Anytime the fully loaded and ready to tow trailer weight is greater than 50 percent of the weight of the tow vehicle, using weight distribution should be considered. When you get the pop-up, hitch it to the vehicle and pay special attention to the front and rear ride height of the truck. If the rear end sags more than a few inches when the camper's hitched up, your headlights will be aimed incorrectly and braking and steering response can be negatively affected because of the sag at the...

  • Replacement Channel Mount Ball Platform for 20K 3 Inch Wide Adjustable Curt Shank
The internal channel width of the Replacement Shank for Curt Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C45917 is 3" while the Replacement Ball Platform # C28KR you're looking at has a 2-3/4" width and is for the Curt Rebellion XD rated only for 15K as opposed to the 20K rating for your shank. Since there will be a 1/4" difference I recommend going with the Curt Pintle Hook # C45922 instead which has the higher rating to match your shank plus it comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball that can be swapped out for...

  • Can Different Sized Hitch Balls be Used with Curt Pintle Hook # C45908
Yes, the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball that comes included with the Curt Pintle Hook # C45908 can be swapped out with a different sized ball that features a compatible shank. For a 2 inch hitch ball to use with this assembly the Curt # C48820 will work perfectly. We also have the 1-7/8 inch # C48810 if you think you would ever have a need for a smaller hitch ball. I have attached a short video demonstration on the Pintle Hook that you can also take a look at.

  • Difference Between The Curt 45920 And 45922 Channel Mount Htich Ball
Along with # C45922 having the ability to tow more than 7,000 lbs more than # C45920, the Curt Pintle Hook with 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C45922 can also be changed to use a 1-7/8" ball # C48810 and a 2" ball # C48820. The Curt # C45922 also has a built in anti-rattle design that helps reduce towing noise, and can fit lunette ring couplers with a diameter of 2-12" or 3".

  • Is there a 1-7/8 Inch Trailer Hitch Ball with a 1-1/4 Inch Shank
Ball # C48810 is the only 1-7/8 inch diameter ball that also has a 1-1/4 inch shank. Like you said it is made to fit a pintle hitch combo ball mount. What I recommend is a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank like # 19260 and then use bushing # 58184 or # F-2 to use it in your ball mount with the 1-1/4 inch opening.

  • Availability of Ball Mount With 3" Rise/Drop
I'm not sure if you're looking for a 3" rise or drop but we have options for both so you don't need to worry about being off by an inch. For a ball mount with a 3" rise you can use the # 40331. You will also need # C48810 for a 1-7/8", # A-90 for a 2", or # 19286 for a 2-5/16" hitch ball. If you need a drop you can use the # TS64FR. This has a 3-1/4" drop but the 1/4" difference won't be noticeable.

  • Is There a 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball with a 5,000 Weight Capacity
The majority of standard hitch balls with a 1-7/8" diameter will have a 2,000-3,500 lb weight capacity. If you need a hitch ball with a 1-7/8" diameter that has a 5,000 lb weight capacity then you will need to use a pintle hitch ball. For this, we have part # C48810 which has a 1-1/4" diameter shank. You will need to measure the hole for the hitch ball on your ball mount in order to make sure this one will work for you. The only difference between a standard hitch ball and a pintle hitch...

  • Complete Towing Setup For 2010 Ford Edge
Dry weight is the weight of your vehicle when completely empty with no passengers or cargo loaded. The gross trailer weight is total weight of the trailer plus the cargo loaded on it. The main two things you need to look at are your vehicle's max towing capacity and the trailer's gross weight. My research tells me that your 2010 Ford Edge has a max towing capacity of 2,000lbs, but you can verify in your owner's manual. This means you should not pull a trailer that exceeds 2,000lbs. If...

  • Availability of a Trailer Hitch Ball with a 1-1/4 Inch Shank and a 1-7/8 Inch Diameter
The only 1-7/8 inch ball that we carry with a 1-1/4 inch shank is # C48810, but this is used for a pintle hitch combo hitch. What you can do is use a bushing like # F-2 to go from a 1-1/4 inch ball hole to a 1 inch. You could then use a ball like # 19260.

In order to help reduce trailer sway while towing with your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport, I recommend using a weight distribution system like the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System part # 66557. The Steadi-Flex is going to not only help reduce trailer sway but it will also help to distribute tongue weight which improves braking and the overall handling of your tow vehicle. The only thing you will need to use this system is a hitch ball, part # C48810 or part # 63845. Please note...

I can understand the concern with using a ball mount with a drop and a longer shank possibly creating a situation where it's more likely to contact the ground. I'll start by saying that the Curt Multi-Ball # D900 is a fairly standard length when it comes to an adjustable ball mount; there are some that come with a longer shank but the roughly 15" total distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball is fairly standard.
